SHUT UP AND DANCE: YELLE UNLEASHES SAFARI DISCO CLUB

SAFARI DISCO CLUB.
The artist is Yelle and the Album is Safari Disco Club, now when you hear that you instantly think of all these animals dancing around in Africa with strobe and neon lights, of course neon tights and green (fake) leopard print being worn too. You see, that’s exactly what this album is.. Well sort of, minus the Animals, add the Humans, subtract the English and times 3 of the neon colours and you get… Yes you guessed it: Yelle’s Safari Disco Club.

Of course this club is no club you need an initiation to. All you got to do is pick up the album at a local record store or on Itunes and blast it on the closest speaker and you haved officially joined this club, though if you don’t know French you may be slightly confused by the lyrics. Truth is, I don’t know a lick a French, and now you’re probably thinking << so how is he reviewing this album >>, and you know what? Sure I could have simply translated all of her lyrics to English but that’s the easy way… I mean come on, who does things the easy way now a days?

Instead, I have a vision to share with you. It's 1980, everyone is dancing to Flock Of Seagulls, when all of a sudden a time machine appears and out walks Yelle and the band. She plays the song ‘Je Veux Te Voir’ and everyone looks at each other confused and scratching their gelled heads, while she sings ‘Je veux te voir, dans un film porno’ which translates to ‘I want to see you, in a porno film’. You look to your friend and say << Fuck it, let's dance!>>

Point is, that’s what this record is all about… 80's beats, dancing, and well, not caring one bit that she just mentioned a ‘neon hummer’. This album makes you dance, makes you forget, and makes jump into another world where some part of you kind of understands the French and bright colors and the dancing and the ‘Safari Disco Club’. She sings ‘All these hairdressers like me, who knew you’re only worth a hair’ what ever that means… But you’re not suppose to care, you're supposed to dance!

THANK YOU. NEVER QUIT.
