THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN': FEATURE INTERVIEW WITH NOW NOW'S CACIE DALAGER.

INTRODUCING NOW NOW (ON THE NEW ALBUM)
Threads was one of the first ideas we had when we started to talk about naming the album. We tried for months and went through countless ideas, but we kept coming back to it. There was something about it we felt connected to. To us it represents a fragile balance, entanglement, and patterns. We tried to make this record a step forward for us. We wanted it to be darker and less timid than our previous full length.

I would first like to say that I have been a huge fan of you guys since the very start. I first posted you on my personal blog --iameverything.tumblr.com-- ... Nice plug eh?) on my profile section. This is where I profile bands that should get the recognition they deserve, of course this was back when not many people herd your song on Greys, ever since then I have been blogging songs from you guys like it was going out style. Point is, thank you for making great music and also, does any of yeahs have tumblr? What are your thoughts on the tumblr 'community'?

Yes, we all have tumblr accounts. We also have a band tumblr. Any little community where you are able to interact with people is nice. There is good and bad to any site like that, but for the most part it's fun.

Okay lets actually talk 'you' now before I lose your interest in my great e-interview skills. On the topic of your music, I love your lyrics, they are just so magical and cryptic; what inspires you these days to write such pieces of music?

I think that is the greatest compliment we've ever received. All of our lyrics are about things that have happened to us or people close to us.

With the screamo/punk scene not as big as it once was, do you feel that more kids these days are listening to bands such as yours or Angus And Julia Stone for example, as in turning more 'hipster' lets just say? (hahah) And how has this helped your guys' career? Or as it at all helped?

I don't think it's made too much of a difference for us. Because there is always a group of people willing to listen to other kinds of music. We are also in a kind of weird in between area between genres. We are too pop for indie, not poppy enough for normal pop, and we were weren't heavy enough for pop punk. So I think music trends don't really have an effect on who is listening to us much.

Was it just luck that you guys had the 'Now Now' in the first part of your name to make it a great band name and just change it to that or were you thinking of a new band name altogether?

d

It wasn't smart for us to completely start over, but we needed to make a change. So we just shortened what we already had.

Okay, I am sure you get enough questions about the name change, lets change up the subject. If you dont mind me asking, I noticed you were signed to No Sleep Records for one year, which is kind of odd; I was curious as to why just a year? Did you guys have a falling out?

cc

We are in no way on bad terms with No Sleep. They were very helpful and great to work with. Just time for a change.

I read this on some website, not sure if its correct and if it isn't, just pretend it is (haha). When you first started in '03 in high school, it said you (Cacie Dalager and Bradley Hale) first started writting acoustic songs, one song in particular, for a friend; could you perhaps explain what this song was about?

,

It unfortunately is true. When Brad and I were in tenth grade our friend graduated and was going away for college. So we wrote a song for her. The teen years are so tender and painful.

I am most excited to announce that your newest album will be realesed in no time and I am thrilled for this. I just heard the newest song Dead Oaks and it was so magical, of course. Can you explain what this song is about? Trees? That would be great!

b

Thank you! I'm really secretive about the meaning of our lyrics. I like to keep things open for interpretation. But we can just say it's about trees. (Dead ones.)

How is like sharing the stage with Hellogoodbye? Are they as nerdy and bundles of awesomeness in real person as I think they are?

bb

Yes, they are. They are total studs.

I recently checked out the Now Now website and I noticed there are new tour dates, I was curious if Canada would be on this tour? More specifically, Prince Edward Island, Canada? We would welcome you with open arms!

b b

We will be touring from 2012 until the day we die. I am obsessed with Canada, so I hope we start playing there more.
