MARCUS NITSCHKE

There wasn't that special "click" moment. It just happend like this, by itself. I love the connection and interaction with the people, which is mostly girls luckly, and I am trying to bring something out of them; get them a little out of their comfort zone. To capture something beautiful that I see and feel inside of them. In German we have a word for it. Itīs called Ausstrahlung. It means a mix of charisma and vibe and inner beauty. See into them.

This interaction is what I like about photography. And right know, when I began to shoot more and more analog, I think I almost found my own style. But is it already a voice? I am not quite sure. But for me it feels awesome and I am on the right way. Digital just gives me a total pain in the ass right know. I am fed up with it. I am overloaded with pictures and images from all sides. They are raining down on me like a never ending monsoon. And the worst, 95% of the pictures look the same. All the same average Instagram background noise. I wonīt say pollution... but yeah, kind of. So slowing down and doing it analog, getting inspired by old print magazines, movies, books, records, etc... is a relief.

There was a time when I was afraid of showing my work. I didn't think it was good enough, people were going to hate it and laugh about it. But on the other hand, there was an urging desire to show my shit to the world. And like always, desires were victorious.

I mean, cīmon it doesn't take that much confidence to show some pictures. Itīs not like you're gonna die, like rescuing buried people after a bombing in Syria. Or be a war photographer. That takes courage and confidence, but taking pics of women and showing them to the world is not that thrilling anymore. Sometimes my drive/motivation to shoot and my inspiration wanes because I get bored quickly of doing the same shit, then I sit and rethink  - read some print mags, watch some movies until I got inspired again. I have a new idea that I wanna try out.

If she's got the look. Period. Ausstrahlung again. Charisma, Vibe, Flow and Looks. Itīs a combination. If itīs right -  then itīs gonna rock. The better the person looks, doesnīt matter if male or female, the easier you get a good picture. Simple and superficial as that. But when the person adds some extra Ausstrahlung, you get great pictures!

For me, the most effective way of bringing someone out of that [comfort] zone is by talking with the people. Listen to what they say, ask them about everything - their jobs, hobbies, favourite music, their partners... everything. I do more talking than taking pictures. I think itīs about 70% talking and building rapport and 30% taking pics.

One of the most challenging aspects of my work, but one that I'm grateful for is: To get the pictures I see in my head on the film inside my camera. You never know what you're gonna get.

I am always optimistic. Thereīs still so much to come and endevour. Hope I am back to travelling soon. Right know I am excited about spring and summer time, finally and that I am only shooting with film and sold all my digital cams. Shooting analog gets me thrilled right know.

The end of civilzation will be caused by: Fucking idiots like Trump, Erdogan and all those other nazi pricks who only care about themselves and don't give a shit about the environment, nature, and the people. #Resist.
