LILY PETRONE

In my opinion, confidence is something that takes a lot of work to create and maintain. Around the age of sixteen I realized that, and forgive my language, if I just stopped giving a fuck about how people perceived me, then I could live way more comfortably and confidently. However, I'm human and sometimes I have low self-esteem days, but when that happens I simply remind myself that all women are beautiful no matter what, and then I get my booty out of bed and workout until I feel better.

Once you get past those first butterflies, everything becomes easier and smoother. I remember walking into the studio at my very first shoot and thinking, "Turn around Lily! You can't do this!" Of course, I ended up forcing myself into it, but I'm so thankful I did. In terms of aspects that I like to accentuate, I love my clavicle area. It's very bony and pronounced and that's super pretty and delicate to me.

I was unsure of myself, I doubted that I would be able to create a final photo that I could be proud of. It was also a completely new experience for me and I didn't know the photographer I was working with. The whole thing just filled me with nervous butterflies. But in the end I basically told myself to grow some balls and push through those feelings because modeling was something I really wanted to do.

A good amount of the wardrobe in my shoots comes from my own closet, so I haven't really had to wear anything that I dislike (thank god). One of my most memorable and favourite shoots to date was for a little boho boutique @Shop.Misha, it was styled by @Malia.Michelle (owner of the shop). The wardrobe was very 70's boho chic. I got to wear a tonne of bellbottoms, vintage shirts and different, fun accessories. The whole shoot was tonnes of fun and the final images really show, not only how much work and time was put in, but also how everyone had a good time. It all came together so smoothly, you can't ask for much more than that.

I think it's extremely important to challenge yourself, in your job and in life. With modeling, I've always been open to new concepts and ideas, that's how I've managed to keep things fresh in my portfolio. I don't ever want to be stuck in one style, and I'm not sure why anyone would want to be. Personally, I love doing everything from fitness to lingerie to bridal shoots, it keeps me on my toes.

One of the most challenging aspects of my work, but one that I'm grateful for is: People not taking me seriously when I tell them I'm a model, or people assuming I'm just an Instagram model as opposed to this being my career. This is a driving force for me to work harder and keep going and really show people that this is a career that I do care about and work my ass off for.

I am crazy optimistic, and I don't have a real reason for it. All I know if it's a new year and I'm planning on working with my agency this year to really get things going. I have only been modeling for about eight months, but I'm ready to go full throttle ahead. I honestly have no idea what's in store, but I'm ready for it. However, I do plan on creating a website this year, possibly selling prints, that type of a thing. Education wise, I'm beginning culinary school next fall and I'm super excited about that!

The end of civilization will be caused by:An alien takeover. No doubt about it.
