ON THE COVER PHOTO.
"Hattie and I were walking around the park looking for places to shoot and we came upon this patch of water lilies. It had rained the week before so they had just sprouted up. We took some shots of me standing over her and then she got the idea of putting a flower in her mouth. I wanted to accentuate her freckles in this shot because I think they show texture and make the (otherwise very pretty) photo look a little more gritty. "

Okay, let's start with... born in Philly and grew up in Austin. Can you take it from there?



I actually didn't grow up in Austin. I grew up in South Texas and moved to Austin about five years ago. Growing up in South Texas I didn't have much to do during the summer months so I turned to photography for entertainment. My dad bought me a cheap casio digital camera when I was 14 and my bestfriend and I would dress up in crazy outfits and take pictures of ourselves.

Any favourite memories or bands from last years SXSW? You attended, right!?



I worked during all of south by last year so I don't think I got to attend. I went to a couple parties though. But the year before I saw Madlib DJ on all 45's and it was awesome.

Nature is such a striking element in much of your photography; it's almost as if its another person in the photo. --It's not simply a backdrop. Can you expand on this... or am I way off?



I kind of see what you mean. For me nature is such an easy and simple background and I like shooting it by itself.

Are you optimistic about the future?



Yeah! I don't know where my photography will go and I don't have any huge goals like getting published in Vogue or anything like that. We'll see where it takes me.
