JESY JOHNSTON

I had a pretty troubling childhood and adolescence dealing with a lot of things relating to my father. He passed away when I was sixteen and going through that I was kind of forced to grow up and realize what's really important in life and what is simply not. It took time to come to terms with things and also to change my mindset to more optimistic views of life. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff or to constantly be worried about everything especially what is out of your control. Just be yourself and do what you think is right and everything else will work itself out.

I guess I've always been a pretty confident person, but of course everyone gets a little down on themselves sometimes. I just think that in general I'm a good person and regardless of what's on the outside, I love what I do and I think that if you have a positive outlook that will shine through. I draw confidence from my loved ones and friends, but when I'm down on myself I just try to tell myself there are so many people out there who don't have what you have, whether it seems big or small to anyone, you should always appreciate everything.

I've always wanted to act and model but I was so camera shy. I even dreaded school speeches; I hated the pressure. I've told this story a million times but to put it shortly, I was basically approached by my now agent who was once a regular at my work to represent me and I gave it a try. After a few jobs, I built a great amount of confidence being in front of the camera and the rest is history.

It wasn't so much camera shy as it was anxiety to do well and be judged. I think what really made me get over it was my first actual acting job. I was obviously very new to everything and the director told me my acting was better than most seasoned actors he had worked with. That made me super happy and really boosted my confidence and ever since then the more work I've done the easier it's become, although I do always get butterflies before filming.

I really, really enjoy shooing in latex (laughing). I find it super sexy and feel super confident in it. The worst is when you have to be semi naked but aren't feeling 100 percent about your body; you can tell in pictures when you aren't having the best day. : ( I would say I'm most comfortable in track pants and baggy shirts! (laughing)

One of the most challenging aspects of my work, but one that I'm grateful for is: I'm not sure if those two coincide but something that is very challenging is the long hours, waiting and waiting, being up very early and working super late. But I am super grateful for all the work I get to do and the amazing connections I've made along the way. :)

I feel everyone is uncertain about their future. Society puts such a harsh expectation on everyone nowadays to be the best and to be super successful. Though I love modeling and acting, my future plans actually involve architecture. I just finished school and have some super cool projects coming up this summer. : )
