WE BELIEVE IN THE NORTH LAKES.

From the dimmed lights in the basement to the spotlights of Hunter’s Ale House in Charlottetown, PEI.  The North Lakes have come a long way in a year. The North Lakes released their album Cobra in 2010 which won the 2011 Music PEI award for Best Alternative Recording of the Year. They have been touring throughout eastern and central Canada.

“The thing with travelling with us on the road is that we get very crazy; we have a lot of inside jokes.” -- says lead singer Nathan Gill.

When asked if we should keep our eyes open for a second album anytime soon, Nathan replied, “We are starting on recording  a second album sometimes in October. We are not sure when were going to release it but that is when we're starting to record it. We will see how it goes”.

The North Lakes have recently played in their hometown,  Charlottetown, at Hunter’s Ale house where they played one of their new songs. “I love their music and their  sound is so different” says one of the audience members at Hunter’s. “Local bands have such great talent it is a pleasure watching them excel in what they love. They are a good inspiration for other local musicians who  are trying to become the best they can be.”

Nathan’s advice for other musicians starting out in the music world is, “Do it for fun. Love what you're doing and your passion will take you places. We started out in our basement  just trying to have some sort of release from stress like school and work.”

When asked where he sees the band in another year, Nathan replied, “Hopefully in a year we would have a second album out and to be doing more tours. We want to really tour Ontario and even the west coast.” If you wish you see where The North Lakes will be playing next or to get a couple of their current album, Cobra, you can like them on Facebook at facebook.com/thenorthlakes or follow them on myspace at myspace.com/thenorthlakes.

Nathan’s last words  before he hit the stage were, “Listen to rock and roll everyone.”

Amen.
