DIANA SILVERS

I want to have somewhat control over what I'm doing and where I'm going. I like to know where my agency wants me to go and work with them so it's where I want to go as well. It's easy to get lost in the modeling world. I've seen girls my age already caught up in the partying and the drugs and it's something I never want to get lost in.

When I first started modeling, the first thing I would do when I walked into a casting was look at all the girls around me and draw up conclusions as to why they're more likely to book the job than me. Confidence is pretty much what modeling is. It took me awhile to realize, "Hey, obviously you're just as good as these girls since you're here too so stop comparing yourself and focus on you." There's always going to be someone prettier and taller and thinner and more successful, but that doesn't make me any less who I am. Someone else's success or beauty doesn't define my own. I try to build my confidence off of what I am lucky to have.

I don't think modeling is mysterious unless the model is doing mysterious things. Modeling is simple: if you want to model, you either get scouted or you send in photos/go to an open call. I like to interact with my followers because they interact with me. If someone is actually interested enough in my life and what I do that they grow attached and ask me questions and show support, then the least I can do is talk with them and share with them what I'm about behind the scenes. I think there's like this stigma that models are perfect, brainless vessels who are paid to look pretty and I like to prove that wrong through my Tumblr and Instagram.

I was always outgoing and expressive. I've been acting in theatre productions since I was six, so I always kind of had to put myself out there.

I got to wear Chanel when I shot for Elle Magazine and that was hands down the coolest thing ever. Chanel is my favourite designer and I think Karl Lagerfeld is a genius.

The end of civilization will be caused by: Using too many resources. There's too many people and not enough Earth. Or maybe a plague. I doubt I'll be around to see it, through.
