CHANA NGUYEN

I love expressing myself through photos, espesially with nudity. I started modeling in 2010 and I am really passionate about it. I came to do nude two months after I started modeling and it was more like a time when I discovered my body, and my womanliness. With every new set, I have realized that this is not just a form of discovering myself but also a form of expressing myself. It is like once I step in front of the camera, I want to show and prove to myself and to everybody else that this is what I am great at. So this is the woman I am becoming. I mean, when people are naked, they are somehow more honest and vulnerable. They are just purely themselves. And that is why I love to do nude.

You know, I was not a very confident teenager. But with modeling, I went from a cute and a little shy nineteen year old to a strong and fearless twenty year old woman pretty quickly. I mean, when you are a model, you have to be strong. You have to be confident and not be afraid of judgement. Yeah, you are right, most people still think that nudity is something forbidden. And it is not always possible to prove to all that they are not right. It is just the human body and you do not have to be scared of it.

Whenever I am down and need a boost, I usually set up with one of my favourite photographers to create something new or I just go to the library for some new books or a museum for inspiration.

I was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine and now live in Moscow, Russia. As a teenager, I was not very confident and had all the same problems as most teenagers. First of all, I think it is because of the surroundings. I mean, when you are the only Asian in the group and you are surrounded by Russians and most of them told you that you are strange, you can not feel very confident. But with modeling, everything has been changed. I met a lot of interesting people and gained a lot of experience needed for this industry, and yes, I am really thankful for all of them. I do not know what it was that pushed me to pursue modeling, but it was just one of those days when you feel a little bit bored. So, I was surfing through the Internet and suddenly have found a web page with the photographers, models, make-up artists and stylists. And everything started from that day.

I am almost twenty-four and I have been growing my hair since I was four. Yeah, my hair plays such a huge part in my work, but not only my hair. I do love my collarbones, wrists and hands. I think there is something sensual and aestethical, something poetic about these particular aspects. But despite all of these, I just love to keep my whole body ready for shoots by exercising, running, and eating healthy.

One of the most challenging aspects of my work but one that I am truly grateful for is: Being optimistic all the time. You have to let go all the bad things that happen and have to be as happy as can be. And being patient. In the words of Leo Tolstoy, "Everything comes in time to him who knows how to wait."

Oh yes, I am super optimistic about the future. Every day that you can wake up, get up and keep trying is a gift. I am surrounded by wonderful people. My family, friends and coworkers are super humans. And their love and support keeps me going everyday.

Ending on a positive... The end of civilization will be caused by: Wow! I think it will caused by the love for greed. But speaking of the end of civilization, is that a positive note?
