ON BEAUTY.
Beauty, without sounded cliched really does come from within. I never wanted to be the type of photographer that has no interaction with the model until they are stood in front of my lens, hence why I do hair and help with make up (which I have started to do myself now). To me, I learn more about how to shoot a model by speaking to them, learning what makes them tick. Once I know more about a model, their true beauty really shines to me, and I am able to capture it. There are so many physically beautiful girls in the world, but real beauty is found within the uniqueness of each one. That is why every single one of my pictures are so different, and unique to that girl.

Some of my most beautiful photos are not of models at all.

Hi Anna. Thanks for taking the time to do this interview. Could you begin by introducing yourself to our Canadian & international readers who may not be familiar with your work?



I am fairly new to being behind the camera, I have been shooting properly for about two years, and I bought my first camera about six months before that. I am completely self taught. Before picking up a camera, I hosted tv shows for six years, and still work for SkyTV. I also modeled up until about twenty six.

You're very much involved in every aspect of your photography, having been a model yourself, and being so active both as a booker and writer in the field. You really live and breathe what you do. What have these past experiences given you in terms of your photography?



I absolutely find it crucial to be involved in every aspect of the shoot! Some might call it being a control freak! I am involved in what type of make up suits the model, I do hair myself on all the shoots, shoot and retouch the photos. Very hands on because I enjoy the creative process from start to finish. To end up with the finished photo, there are all manner of transformations that take place, including working with the girl's confidence. As a booker I learnt what type of shots client's need from a model, and as a model I learnt what type of shots a model wants in their book, so I shoot a balanced mixture for the girls.
