ALEJANDRO PEREIRA

Women are everything in my photography, and I think it is like that because I am someone completely in love with the whole concept of femininity. There is nothing as powerful and beautiful ever created as women's bodies. I wouldn't shoot anything else because for me it would be useless, at least for myself.

I have always been surrounded by women. Since I was in school, I was always with them and in love with them in a certain way. It has always been easy for me to communicate and to feel comfortable amongst them; I think this is why I make them feel comfortable when shooting. I feel very comfortable shooting with them and even more important, I make them feel comfortable.

One of the reasons I donīt shoot a lot is because I have to feel something when looking at a girl or model to shoot with me. I have to really like her to shoot with someone. I couldn't tell you what it is because it always changes depending on every model. It could be her face, her eyes, her body, something special and difficult to put into words... In any case, someone that apart from being beautiful on the outside, could give me images with soul and that is a difficult thing that not always happens.

One of the things (if not the most important one for me) is undoubtedly music! Nothing helps me better to get into the mood and to chill everything as music. That's easy... go slow, donīt talk too much, just when it is strictly needed and let things flow.

One of the problems when shooting is definitely what to wear or use since I am not a stylist and donīt use them in my photos... but I know exactly what I like and not, and it is always something I talk with models about before shooting. I love pieces in white and lingerie and swimsuits will be always be part of my shots.

One of the most challenging aspects of my work, but one that I'm grateful for is: being selective and waiting for the right girl is something always challenging but it definitely pays off. Be patient and wait for the people you really like (within your possibilities) because in the end, the result will make you happy and it will give you a photographic style too.

Well, that's a difficult question because I am a dreamer and would love to see myself one day shooting my personal shots as a way of living. I know it is quite complicated and that it is so difficult because clothes and fashion are the ones that pays the bills but nudity and art are what make me feel good and they are what I like. Freedom and art just look like a happy dream that perhaps will make you crash against the wall but I will try or at least just do what I want in the little free time I have... If in the end I donīt achieve it, at least I will know that I have tried and enjoyed it while it lasted.
